Today dawns clear and sunny, with a more moderate morning temperature of 65°. While eating breakfast, I get to watch a couple of quail on and around the picnic table outside. This RV park served its purpose, and we are re-supplied for more remote places again. We drive to the Recreation Area campground at Callville Bay. This is more like it. No hookups at the site, but water and dump are available. There’s a big marina just around the corner, but things are pretty quiet this early in the year. There are a lot of bushy trees throughout, and we enjoy our privacy.
Our reverie is shaken when we go to take Essie to the marina store. I go around
to the passenger side and when I try the key, things don’t feel right. I step back to look more carefully and discover that Essie has been sideswiped sometime since we used her at Hoover Dam and the casino yesterday afternoon. She has scratches all along the side and the fixed mirror is slightly out of place. I didn’t notice it visually because, as is often the case when towing, Essie was quite dirty, and she sports plastic body panels that spring back. While there are no dents, the door lock was pushed in about a quarter of an inch and the door handle doesn’t work right. Diane had thought she heard something last night after I had gone to sleep, but had dismissed it. Someone apparently hit us while parked overnight in that RV park. Fortunately the damage was not crippling and the door works, though finicky. We report it to our insurance company and will have things repaired back at home.
In a little while we got over our indignation and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon and evening. Mild temperatures, some good food at home, and a glass of wine. Just relaxin...ahhhh….
