back into the Park one more time to do som
e last minute shopping at Verkamps Curios. But it is right on the rim and the views are spectacular there, too. We also get a good look at the train which comes in right at the South Rim Village.
We head back to Tusayan, where we visit the airport and watch the helicopter tour fleet as they buzz in and out. We have lunch at Wendy’s and then hop next door to the IMAX Theater to see the Grand Canyon in all its splendor. What
a flick! A little disjointed in places, but the Native-American scenes are well-executed, the river action scenes unbelievable (how did they do it?), and the flight sequences are truly awesome. This was thoroughly worth doing and recommended if you ever get the chance to see it.Back at our campsite, filled with visions of the natural splendor, we prep DD and hitch up Essie. With a late start, we set our goals low and make it to Kingman, AZ before it gets dark. We grab some fast food at Del Taco and wash it down with cerveza “at home.”
